Manning should not be punished he should be recieving the highest honors

In Världen on 03 mars 2011 at 9:40

The soldier Bradley Manning who is suspected of leaking the classified documents to Wikileaks is facing charges that could send him to deathrow. He is, according to the US government the one who for example leaked the now famous video of a US helicopter crew killing civilians.

Now one might ask if a person calling a horrible crime to the attention of the general public and to those victimized by the crime, is indeed a criminal himself or a person of great personal integrity and honor?

If this soldier had pointed out the same crime but with different perpetrators he would without any doubt be called the latter. But since the perpetrators is US military personel he is called a criminal and a traitor to his country.

Logic anyone?

To whom is the military and the government in the US loyal, to themselves and the dirty secrets they keep from the public and the world, or to the people who elected them and raised them to the power they have today?

”The problem of power is how to achieve its responsible use rather than its irresponsible and indulgent use – of how to get men of power to live for the public rather than off the public.” Robert F. Kennedy (1925 – 1968),
‘I Remember, I Believe,’ The Pursuit of Justice, 1964

Some would argue that the secrecy is a necessary evil for the greater good and to those I say.

”The road Hell is paved with good intentions”
